Terms of Service

By downloading, accessing or using WoodSnap, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy, which explains how we handle your information. If you don’t agree, don’t use the Service.

You must be at least 13 years old, or older where local law requires it, to use WoodSnap. If you are under the age of legal majority where you live, you may use WoodSnap only with the permission of a parent or guardian.

App store terms

If you downloaded WoodSnap from the Apple App Store or Google Play, that store’s terms also apply to you. Apple and Google are not parties to these Terms and are not responsible for the app or its content.

WoodSnap helps you identify wood species, furniture and wooden crafts from photos. For each scan, the Service may provide information such as how to recognize the item, its history, care and safety notes, typical uses and working properties, buying tips and an estimated value.

WoodSnap also lets you keep a history and collection of your scans, add notes, read articles and ask follow-up questions of an AI assistant.

We use service providers to deliver the Service, as described in our Privacy Policy.

Results depend on factors such as photo quality, lighting, angle, finishes and coatings, and how much of the item is visible. Similar-looking woods, and reproductions of antique styles, can be hard to tell apart, even for experts.

Don’t rely on WoodSnap alone for

• buying, selling, insuring or valuing an item. Value estimates are general indications, not offers, quotes or market valuations;
• authenticating antiques or collectibles, or confirming where an item came from;
• deciding whether a wood is protected or regulated, for example under CITES or local timber rules;
• health and safety decisions, such as wood toxicity, allergies, dust exposure, or whether a wood or finish is safe for contact with food;
• structural, load-bearing or building decisions;
• restoring or conserving valuable or historic pieces.

For these decisions, consult a qualified professional, such as a certified appraiser, conservator, wood scientist or timber supplier.

Safety information in the app is general guidance only. Always follow product labels, use appropriate protective equipment and follow local regulations when working with wood. AI-generated content can include errors that sound confident, and the same limits apply to the AI assistant. You use results at your own discretion and risk.

WoodSnap doesn’t require an account. There is no sign-up or login, and we don’t ask for your name, email address or password.

• The app uses a random identifier, stored on your device, to keep your scan history and collection available to you.
• Because there is no login, your history is tied to your installation of the app and may not be recoverable if you delete the app or change devices.
• You’re responsible for the use of WoodSnap on your device.

To have all of your data deleted, contact us at support@nexdev.codes, as described in our Privacy Policy.

“User Content” means the photos, notes, messages and other material you submit to WoodSnap. You keep any ownership rights you have in your User Content.

You grant Nexdev a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, copy, process, transmit and display your User Content, and to share it with our service providers, only as needed to operate, provide and improve the Service. We do not use your User Content to train AI models. This license ends when you delete the content or ask us to delete your data, except for copies kept in backups for a limited time, as described in our Privacy Policy.

You are responsible for your User Content and confirm that you have the rights needed to submit it.

Results generated for you

Subject to these Terms, you may use the results WoodSnap generates for you for your personal purposes. Because results are generated by AI, other people may receive similar results. General reference information about identified items is also shared across the Service.

• Only upload photos you took yourself or have the right to use.
• Photos should show the wood, furniture or craft item you want identified. Avoid including people, faces, documents, screens or other personal information about yourself or others.
• Don’t upload content that is illegal, sexually explicit, violent or hateful, or that infringes anyone’s rights.

Photos are processed as described in our Privacy Policy, including by third-party AI providers. We may remove content, or restrict features, if we reasonably believe that content violates these Terms.

You agree not to:

• use WoodSnap in a way that breaks any law or infringes anyone’s rights;
• present WoodSnap results as a professional appraisal, certification or authentication, for example to a buyer, seller or insurer;
• copy, modify, distribute, sell or lease any part of the Service, or reverse engineer it or try to extract its source code, except where the law allows;
• access the Service with bots, scrapers or other automated means, or use it to build a competing product or dataset;
• get around usage limits, paywalls or security features, or share paid access in ways these Terms don’t allow;
• interfere with or disrupt the Service, its servers or its networks, or upload malware;
• use the AI assistant to create unlawful, harmful or deceptive content, or try to bypass its safeguards;
• impersonate anyone, or misrepresent your connection to any person or organization.

The Service is owned by Nexdev or its licensors and protected by intellectual property laws. This includes the app and its design, software, text, articles, reference content, graphics, logos and the WoodSnap name. These Terms don’t grant you any rights to our trademarks.

Subject to these Terms, we grant you a personal, limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable and revocable license to download and use the app on devices you own or control, for your personal, non-commercial use.

Some reference images in the app are found through third-party image search and belong to their respective owners. They are shown for identification and reference only. If you believe content in WoodSnap infringes your rights, contact us at support@nexdev.codes.

If you send us feedback or suggestions, we may use them without any obligation to you.

If WoodSnap offers optional paid features, such as subscriptions or one-time purchases, the plans, prices and included features are shown in the app before you buy.

Purchases are made with your Apple ID or Google Play account and processed by Apple or Google, whose payment terms apply. We never receive your card details.

• Automatic renewal. Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period unless you cancel before the renewal date. On the App Store, you must cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. You are charged through your store account when the subscription renews.
• Free trials. If a free trial is offered, it becomes a paid subscription when the trial ends unless you cancel before then.
• Price changes. We may change subscription prices. Apple or Google will tell you about price changes as their rules require, and you can cancel before a new price applies.
• Refunds. Refund requests are handled by Apple or Google under their refund policies.
• Restoring purchases. Purchases are linked to your store account, so an active subscription can be restored after you reinstall the app.

You can cancel a subscription at any time in your store account settings:

• iPhone or iPad: Settings › [your name] › Subscriptions › WoodSnap.
• Android: Google Play Store › your profile icon › Payments & subscriptions › Subscriptions › WoodSnap.

Cancelling stops future renewals. Your paid access continues until the end of the period you have already paid for.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, WoodSnap is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied. This includes warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy and non-infringement.

In particular, we don’t warrant that identifications, estimates or other results will be accurate, complete or reliable, or that the Service will be uninterrupted, secure or error-free.

Some jurisdictions don’t allow certain warranties to be excluded, so some of these exclusions may not apply to you. Nothing in these Terms affects consumer rights that cannot be waived under applicable law.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Nexdev and its affiliates, officers, employees and licensors will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages. This includes any loss of profits, revenue, data or goodwill arising out of or related to your use of the Service, or your inability to use it. It also includes any decision you make based on AI results.

Our total liability for all claims relating to the Service is limited to the amount you paid for the Service in the 12 months before the claim.

These limitations apply only to the extent permitted by applicable law.

You can stop using WoodSnap at any time by deleting the app. You can also ask us to delete your data.

We may suspend or end your access if you seriously or repeatedly breach these Terms, if the law requires it, or if we discontinue the Service. Where reasonable, we’ll tell you in advance.

When your access ends, your right to use the Service stops, and your data is handled as described in our Privacy Policy. Some parts of these Terms continue to apply because of their nature. These include the AI Identification Disclaimer, Intellectual Property, Disclaimer of Warranties and Limitation of Liability.

We’re continually improving WoodSnap. We may add, change or remove features, change the AI models or providers we use, or set usage limits. Results for the same photo may therefore change over time.

We may also suspend or discontinue the Service, in whole or in part. If we discontinue a paid feature, refunds are handled in line with the store’s policies and applicable law.

We may update these Terms from time to time. We’ll post the updated version on this page and change the “Last updated” date. If the changes are material, we’ll notify you in the app or on this page before they take effect. If you keep using WoodSnap after the changes take effect, you accept the updated Terms.

These Terms are governed by the laws of the country where Nexdev is established, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. Disputes will be resolved by the competent courts of that country, unless mandatory law allows you to bring proceedings where you live.

If you are a consumer, you may also benefit from mandatory protections under the laws of the country where you live. Nothing in these Terms limits those rights.
